It is a common condition that is characterized by pain and stiffness in the shoulder joint, along with loss of normal range of motion in the shoulder. Symptoms of frozen shoulder usually begin slowly, worsen over time, and then resolve, usually within one to three years. While common, frozen shoulder can be quite painful, and even debilitating for some people.

Treatment for Frozen Shoulder

Frozen Shoulder Treatment | Max Physiotherapy | Physiotherapy, Chiropractic, Massage and Health & Wellness Clinic | NE Calgary

Treatment for frozen shoulders can involve various range-of-motion exercises. Many physical therapy exercises can be used as a first-line treatment for frozen shoulders. Physical therapy has shown to be successful at bringing about pain relief and helping to return functional motion to the shoulder. Physiotherapy is based on the specific stage and symptom presentation of the frozen shoulder. In early stages, exercises consist of particular shoulder mobilization exercises aimed at maintaining shoulder range of motion. In later stages of physiotherapy, further stretching exercises can be added, along with postural exercises, strengthening, and pain management techniques, which can include heat, Acupuncture, ultrasound, manual therapy, and shockwave therapy.
